Diabetes Care at School: What Key Health Personnel Need to Know
Since 2009, the Regional Diabetes Collaborative (RDC) and the Diabetes Health Center participate in the Santa Cruz County Binational Health Week and coordinate a health promotion and educational event for school health personnel in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties.
The event, “Diabetes Care at School: What Key Personnel Need to Know” provides training to prepare school nurses and other key health personnel on diabetes care at school. Items typically discussed include care plans, carb-counting, insulin injection, insulin pump overview, hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, administering glucagon, and glucometer review.
